This OU video was a lot of fun to make.  It is Shmuel’s debut as a steadicam operator.  I was so impressed with how quickly he picked up what is known to be quite a difficult and physically challenging task.  He’s worked with a glider before (see the great pool-diving shot in this video), but a steadicam takes a lot of skill.  I think he nailed it.

I say this video was a lot of fun to make, but I’m not the one who made it, of course.  For me the fun part was hanging out with NCSY at their winter retreat in Connecticut, then spending New Year’s in Teaneck… see if you can catch cameos of me and the kids in this one.  :-)

The OU is such an awesome organization, and I wouldn’t have known how amazing it is if Shmuel hadn’t made this video.  I feel like I’m part of something phenomenal when I buy anything with an OU hechsher.  See for yourself in the video above.

How do you like the iPad theme?  Leave your thoughts in the comments below.  :-)

Chabad TV, aka JEM

You’ve seen the videos of the Lubavitcher Rebbe addressing his Chassidim in Yiddish while they are pushed against each other, hanging off of the ceiling just to hear their leader spit gems. There are so many black hats in the room you wonder if you should say a bracha. These are the videos Jewish Educational Media owns and uses in their inspirational videos pushing the Chabad movement, the kiruv movement, the Jewish movement, the redemption, forward.
Shmuel met Elkanah Shmotkin, the head of Jewish Educational Media, through his brother who learned with Shmuel at Mayanot. Since then Shmuel has played a part in a few of their videos creating animations: their Living Archive Logo, and in the Reflections video, which was shown at the annual shaliach convention a few years ago.

In honor of Benzi and Pnina’s new arrival, I thought I’d write another post on Nefesh B’Nefesh. Mazal tov Benzi and Pnina!

This video for Nefesh B’Nefesh is a good example of what we’ve done for some organizations who have some old footage that needs revamping. This footage was taken a few years before, and Nefesh B’Nefesh wanted a fresh approach to the subject of making aliyah and going to college in Israel. Shmuel usually prefers using his own footage (it tends to be decidedly better than average, if I do say so myself!), but with lots of manipulation including animation, effects and color grading, he made this look awesome. See for yourself.
