Microsoft Outlook Goes Social, Integrates with LinkedIn

Linkedin recently announced  that in the upcoming version of Office, when you sign into Outlook with your Linkedin username you’ll be able to view all of the profile information and networking activities of any contact who emails you. No additional downloads will be necessary.

You’ll also be able to view all of a person’s Linkedin information by viewing their contact card.

Pardon me, but is this supposed to be innovative?  Apple has been integrating my LinkedIn contacts into my Apple Contacts for a while now.  And Rapportive already makes a person’s social profiles from many social networks available to you when you’re viewing your email.

And one more thing: Who’s still using Outlook?

Sorry for my cockiness, I’m just weary of Microsoft’s attempts at innovation way after Elvis has already left the building.
