Startups – How to Win A Free Ticket to New York Venture Summit

The New York City Venture Summit is next week! Shmuel made a video of last year’s Summit:

It’s a conference where venture capitalists listen to startups give their pitches, and where they decide who’s getting the funding.

Normally if an entrepreneur wants to get in and schmooze, it does take a monetary investment. But we’re partnering with YoungStartup to give away a free ticket to next week’s summit.

For a chance to win**, comment on this blog post with your name, the name of the business you’re looking to fund, and your idea, or some hint of it if you want to keep it a secret.

Looking forward to seeing the kinds of cool stuff you’re up to!

We hope to announce the winner by Friday, July 15th** so you can have time to plan your trip to NY!

May the best idea win!

:-)

**Update: This contest is now closed.  We hope to announce the winner by Sunday, July 17, 2011.  Thank you for your patience!

Israel has an image problem. I want my company Bar-Am Public Relations to be the one stop shop for Israeli government ministries to turn to for all their PR needs. Right now there are so many ministries and officials who all give their ‘take’ when something happens in this country. I want our PR staff to be the experts used to coordinate a clear concise message for all ministries to use.

The first step in getting Israel’s message out to the world, is to UNIFY that message.

    Help us help Israel.

  5. Nicholas says:

Yes, I have an idea to meet the venture capitalists who are looking to invest and would like to pass this along!I have read your message carefully and watched the attached video introduction to the theme.
There are two organic devices, which are called in turn:
1st heat pump is powered by any type of gas: LPG, mains, liquefied, biogas, etc.
    2nd container waste incinerators
These devices are used for heating, cooling, hot water supply and energy production
electricity to small domestic installations as well as the largest industrial use.
Investors who would be able to finance this type of venture in Poland and other
East bloc countries due to the discovery of shale gas in Poland will with certainty a
great opportunity for economic development in this part of Europe as well as fast return
    on invested funds.

  14. Ronen Chanan Goldberg says:

So, I don’t know if my idea qualifies for what the summit is looking for, but it’s a business that I’ve been trying to start for a while, however I have 0 funding. My company is/will be Rising Sun Records, Rising Sun Cafe, and perhaps other Rising Sun enterprises. My idea (in short) is to unify the Israeli Music scene of northern Israel, and, at the same time, to increase the spiritual and mental health of all people. The concept is to start small (one city) and grow to a globally recognized entity. Maybe you guys can help my dream come true.

P.S. What is covered if I do win? Is it all expenses or do I have to accomodate certain aspects of the trip?

  15. Wow, did you make this video?! Very well written and produced. Inspiring!

  16. Ross Felix says:

After 10+ years as on online dater, I realized that there had to be a far better way. Current dating sites are designed without the user in mind, with the goal of keeping you on the site as long as possible. Instead, imagine a dating site designed after meeting with over 1,000 singles with their goal in mind — to have the best possible chance to meet someone without forking over a mint to do so. With a total addressable market of approximately 120 million singles in the US, the currently online dating market has about 20-30 million members. The idea incorporates the advantages of niche dating (i.e. JDate) with non-niche, (OK Cupid), but also provides the benefits of doing it yourself, like Match and do it for me sites like eHarmony. Our revenue model incorporates a low monthly fee, and supplemental revenue streams through targeted advertising of date worthy venues, restaurants and activities.

Looking for funding of two businesses.
1 – Revo-Technology – A mobile application called Command Contact. It allows you to send and receive contact information seamlessly into your address book. No scanning or “bumping” required. Very simple UI. Need to update your info? That’s where this App Rocks! It’s a fully developed app- ready to go to market now. Much more to say, that where this gets better, but that’s for later.

    Shmuel:
Great job on the video! It moves, it’s interesting, it’s concise, and it completely gets you to want to go to the event. I especially liked the music you put to the film.
I’m an entrepreneur and a ticket to this could transform my enterprise.

  21. Cindy says:

Great video. The summit looks *awesome*!

I’ve got a special accessory for the IPad/netbook in the works where fashion meets function.
In addition, I am working on developing an app consulting company.
I’ll be glad to tell you more in confidence.
The conference seems to be the ticket to a transformative launch. I’d love to be there.
