For all the mommies.

In a tucked-away corner of Nachlaot, on Shabbos night, the Weisbergs’ table overflows with young people from yeshivas and midrashas eager to hear R. Weisberg’s divrei Torah and to see his wife Jenny’s radiant smile.

We met Jenny when we were privileged to make this promo video for her book on Jewish motherhood, One Baby Step at a Time.  Working on this project has influenced my life beyond the hours of interviews, beyond the time I spent in front of the computer helping Shmuel with the editing.

Jenny Weisberg is an oasis of support for women in a job that can feel so lonely and so scary—motherhood.  I had been a mother for just a few months when we worked on this project.  Jenny has since taken the video concept and started sending out her own weekly “Eema Peptalk” videos that sometimes catch me at the point of collapse and pick me up again. Her Eema Peptalk from last L’ag B’Omer is one of my favorites so far.  Once I sent one of our videos to Jenny with me listed at the end as the assistant editor.  ”I especially liked the assistant editing!” she wrote in return.

If you’re pregnant, Jenny’s book Expecting Miracles is a must-read, and if you’re already a mother, check out the vid.

And receive Jenny’s weekly peptalks by signing up at her website, www.jewishmom.com, or visit her new blog at http://jewishmoms.wordpress.com/.
